Introduction
Lagos is known for its energy and vibrancy, but even the most seasoned traveler can struggle to find the best restaurants in this sprawling city. We’ve rounded up eight of the top places to eat in Lagos so you have no excuse not to try them all on your next visit.
1. Orisi
Orisi is a Nigerian restaurant in Lagos, the brainchild of Chef Dapo Adelugba who has a Michelin star from his restaurant in London.
The restaurant offers traditional Nigerian dishes such as pounded yam and egusi soup, but also has an international menu that includes dishes like lamb chops and grilled prawns.
It’s worth noting that this restaurant is not cheap; expect to pay over $100 per person for dinner here!
2. Ripples
Ripples is located in Ikoyi, a neighborhood that’s known for its high-end restaurants and hotels. The restaurant has an elegant atmosphere with white tablecloths and dim lighting, making it the perfect place to go on a date or celebrate something special. The menu features dishes like the pan-seared snapper fillet with tomato sauce and spinach served with rice pilaf; grilled chicken breast served with mashed potatoes topped with mushrooms; or grilled lamb chops served with mashed potatoes and vegetables.
The price range starts at about N10,000 per person for an appetizer/main dish combo plate.
Desserts include chocolate mousse cake (N5200), mango pudding (N3800) and creme brulee (N3600).
The best time to visit this restaurant would be during evening hours because they serve dinner until 11pm every day except Sundays when they close at 10pm.
3. The Sandwich Society
- The Sandwich Society
The Sandwich Society is a sandwich shop with locations in Lagos and Abuja. They have a variety of sandwiches and salads, so you can choose from their extensive menu if you’re looking for something specific or just want to try something new! Some of their most popular options include the “I Am God” (roast beef), “Too Much Butter” (brie cheese) and “It’s Not You… It’s Me” (chicken). If you’d rather save room for dessert later on, they also offer smoothies and juices at reasonable prices. The restaurant itself has a modern design that makes it easy to relax while enjoying your meal–whether solo or with friends!
4. Mama Gertrude’s Cafe
Mama Gertrude’s Cafe is a restaurant that serves Nigerian food. The food is cooked by Mama Gertrude herself, who has been cooking since she was a child. She learned how to cook from her mother, who was also a great cook. The restaurant is located in Ikoyi, Lagos and serves African dishes as well as European ones.

Chilli Pepper is a small restaurant located in Ikeja, one of the many districts of Lagos. The dishes served here are inspired by different cuisines such as African, American and Asian. They also serve traditional Nigerian food like jollof rice, fufu and okra soup among others. The price range for their meals starts at N500 and goes up to N1,000 depending on what you order but it’s quite affordable considering that most restaurants charge more than that for similar items on their menu!
The best part about Chilli Pepper is its amazing ambiance–it has a very cozy vibe with dim lights which makes it perfect for an intimate date night or catching up with friends over dinner (you can also get cocktails here). Their service is also commendable; they have friendly staff who are always ready to help if needed!
We recommend trying out their Chicken Wings & Fries (N400) or Chicken Tikka Masala Curry dish (N750). You’ll love both these options because they taste great while being affordable too!
